Irish dance - Irish Stepdancing (one type of "Irish dance") is a type of recreational and competitive folk dance that has been recently popularized by the world-famous "Riverdance" and "Lord of the Dance". The dance form has its roots in Ireland.
Virginia Reel (dance) - The Virginia Reel is an American folk dance that dates from the 17th century. Though the reel may have its origins in Scottish country dance and the "Highland Reel", and perhaps have an even earlier influence from an Irish dance called the "Rinnce Fada", it is generally considered to be an English country dance.
Barn dance - A barn dance is often confused with a Ceilidh as it is a similar kind of event, but does not have to be (as is the case with a Ceilidh) traditionally Irish or Scottish dancing. Barn dances are generally to folk music, often played by a live band, and involve a caller who instructs the dancers in their dancing.
Athens Folk Music and Dance Society - The Athens Folk Music and Dance Society is an organization that promotes folk music and folk dance in the Athens, Georgia area. The Society grew out of the Athens Friends of Folk Music and was founded by a University of Georgia student, hammered dulcimer player and banjoist, Joe Wadsworth, and Art Rosebaum.
